My name is Carlos Ortega aka ORLO. I started my tattoo career in early 2019, at my good friend’s tattoo shop, Wild Ink, in my hometown of Guatemala City, Guatemala.
I’ve always been passionate about drawing since I was a small child.
When I Graduated high school I went on to study Industrial Design, with the goal to work in product development. After three and a half years of studying, I never felt a real true connection with product design, as I was always drawn to draw other artistic mediums, more than just lifeless objects.
Fast forward to when I bought my first tattoo machine and started tattooing myself and close friends. I felt super intrigued by the craft and found myself wanting to learn more about it all the time. That’s when a good friend of mine opened a tattoo shop in Guatemala, allowing me to study and learn, while working in a shop to develop my craft.
After some time working there, I moved to Canada and got my permanent residency. In 2022, I started working with the first crew at Blacklist Tattoo, where I currently work today.
The geometric and ornamental tattoo styles resonate with me, especially the fine line, black work, and dots. I love the challenge and complexity of the style and have honed my craft, while building a loyal clientele.
